Hopium
Hopium is hope plus opium: the intoxicating substance of unfounded optimism, inhaled in industrial quantities wherever charts point down and conviction points up anyway.
Origin
Like its twin copium, the word predates its meme era and settled into heavy rotation through gaming and trading culture around 2020. Where copium is administered after the loss, hopium is consumed before it — the drug of "one more candle", "the roadmap is coming", and "this is actually bullish".
Spread
Crypto Twitter made hopium a unit of account. Announcements are rated by hopium content; whole market phases are described as hopium-driven; and self-aware traders announce their own dosage before posting price targets. The meme endures because it captures something real about markets: hope is a consumable resource, and someone is always selling more.
Connections
Hopium and Copium are the two lungs of trader psychology — most portfolios run on both simultaneously. Its most devoted consumers are the Mooner, who has never once exhaled, and the Bag Hodler, whose supply arrived years ago and never ran out.
In BomberMeme
The Hopium fighter plays every losing position as a comeback in progress — down three stocks, cornered, and visibly certain the reversal starts now. Money death-style, Degen-arena affinity, common collectible card that smells faintly of green candles. Mempedia's framing for the meme ecosystem on Solana: hopium is the ecosystem's renewable energy source — every cycle burns it, every cycle mints more.
